A changed friend

My dear friend, you have changed.
Your voice seems to have lost its melody,
it sounds so pale.
As if a Punjabi party song is played
on a D-minor scale.

My dear friend, you have changed.
You used to share how you spent your day and I listened peacefully to reduce your burden.
All I wanted to see you fly.
Now most of the times you’re not in a mood to talk, to my 100 words message,
a small Yes or No is your reply.

My dear friend, you have changed.
I hardly remember our last outing, was it a dinner or a trip?
It’s been a long time span.
I want to see you in person, share chocolates with you, but every time I ask!!
I hear, “Sorry!! But I already have a plan.”

My dear friend, you have changed.
Is this for real or I’m having a bad dream.
You are by my side but it doesn’t feel like we’re a team.

My dear friend, you have changed.
In-fact you were changing everyday when we were together.
Back then I knew where this change is coming from,
so that change didn’t have much of an effect.
And now we see each other after such a huge time gap,
I don’t have a link which leads to this new version of you,
may be that’s the reason now that our hearts don’t connect.

Do not quit

So it was just a couple of days back where I felt a bit low as I was not that satisfied with the quality of my poems or short stories. I felt as if it’s not working. I’m unable to deliver my message to the audience. I was about to take a break and quit this 30 days – 30 posts challenge.

It was day 27 and both the hands of the clock aiming at 11. I had just finished my dinner, a late one indeed. Frustrated a bit with the lockdown and an immensely strong feeling overtook me where I wanted to go out and give some tight hugs to my friends and loved ones. So when you are not happy from within, how can you bring a smile on someone else’s face? I had the same thought too! But then I read some of the poems that I wrote earlier for you guys and I was amazed with my progress. But still I had a creepy feeling that will I really be able to make my readers smile…?

I’m a huge fan of the author Najwa Zebian. A quote of her came to my mind which reads as follows, “The mountains that you’re carrying, you’re only supposed to climb.” So I said the same words to myself, I spoke in a very polite tone with myself and reminded myself, “It’s worth writing those words even if it brings a small little smile on the face of even one of my friends.” I was aware that there are some friends of mine who no matter what happens, do read my posts so I did write and most importantly I was able to overcome my insecurities and fear just by having a short positive conversation with myself.

So whenever you fear something or you feel insecure, do not quit. Never give up untill the last moment and if you do so, the result may or may not be positive but those efforts, they’ll definitely bring a big smile on your face.

I was so passionate about something,
But for some reason, I felt so shy.
I dreamed to be the best in that field,
But I was below average, I won’t lie.
It felt bad, my confidence was shattered,
Will my low life ever see a new high?
I wanted to see success without leaving my comfort zone,
But I knew, “You do not achieve anything untill you work till your sweat turns dry.”
I felt agitated, I felt that never ending pain,
Yes I’m a boy but on some cold nights I did cry.
I’ve learned not to lose hope, as its the only permanent,
And I know dreams will come true,
all I need to do is keep pushing my limits, keep grinding, be fearless and just give it a try.

Simple or Easy ?

Simple and Easy, both of these words are used interchangeably. But do they mean the same thing. We’ll if you take my personal opinion, I won’t agree.

Just by reading this, some of you may send me screenshots of definition of both these words and try to prove that both of them mean the same. So before you do that, kindly read my interpretation, you too may agree with my opinion.

What I feel is that we use the word Simple first and the events which occur thereafter may be easy or difficult.

For instance, you want Pav Bhaji for dinner, so how will you make sure you get it done? You’ll first of all decide, “Who can make Pav Bhaji at home?”, Ofcourse it’s your Mom, so you’re done with the first step, you know who can make your favourite dish for dinner, it was quite a simple answer i.e. Mom, now you’ll want to ask your Mom to make Pav Bhaji, as you are so close to each other, the process of requesting you Mom to make it for you is so easy.

Now let’s analyze one more scenario, you are a Boy and lately you’ve fallen in love with a cute looking Girl. So the first step, what will you try to do? Well.. before you start to dream about all your crushes and how you’ve approached them, let’s move towards my point. If you’re in love you just have to approach the girl and tell her that you love her. This thought is simple, this is what we should do. But is it really that easy to approach an unknown person and express your feelings? There’s a constant feeling of nervousness, you don’t want to hurt that Girl, you have no idea how she will react, you’re not even aware whether she feels the same for you or not, you’ve not interacted much, so you don’t know her completely either. Is she trustworthy, is she really a kind of person you think she is or is she just pretending? In a short time you could never know the truth. So it’s simple that you must express your feelings but the process here my friend is not at all easy.

What I’m trying to express through this is that you may have a temporary infatuation towards someone or something which raises your adrenaline levels, excites you and at that moment you are sure what you want to do, to take a decision at that moment is so simple, but it’s not necessary that the excitement will stay forever. It’s quite simple to say words or make promises but when it’s time to abide by your words or to keep your promise it may not be that easy.

I hope this helps you to take wise decisions. Wish you loads of love and happiness.

Multiple plates of iron and steel
are heated and merged to form a single piece.
Heated and hammered again and again
until we get the desired shape.
Just like you can’t clap with one single hand,
You can’t hammer that piece without Anvil’s support.
Once we get the desired length,
It’s time to increase its strength.
The sword must never bite the dust,
For that heat treating it in oil is must.
After this, the sword is now hard and tough.
Time to sharpen its blade, as it can’t be rough.
Now we attach a handle and a guard
so the blade doesn’t cut our hand apart.
Do ensure its flexibility and balance,
They must be easy to wield in common parlance.

You too are just like a sword.
A combined mixture with different layers.
Keep working on (Hammer) yourself to stay in the desired shape.
Your friends are here for support (Anvil), helping you escape.
For a sword to get its strength it’s repeatedly heated and cooled.
Learn to accept both good and bad, and you won’t ever be fooled.
Keep removing the negative thoughts and feelings to shine bright.
Remember to put a guard, as you may turn blind if there’s too much light.
Just like a sword try to ensure flexibility and balance.
Do it all right and you’ll enjoy the sword’s (life’s) dance.

What would you do?

Siblings often are involved in fights, most common reason being food. Whenever our Mom brings only one portion of snack, it’s over. There’s no way you’ll be able to stop the fight. Both the siblings fight for the larger portion, not because they are too hungry but because they just want to win, show their dominance like, “Tadaa!! I won, I am superior.” It’s selfishness, but at a very small level as even after these fights, there is still love for each other.

When it comes to boys and cricket, it’s a completely different ball game. If they go out in the open to play cricket, one thing always stays in their mind,”I am a good player, I need both, batting and bowling.” Inferiority complex comes into picture if they do not get to bat as well as bowl. Their ego gets hurt and many a times other team mates who are better than that particular individual allow them to bat as well as bowl before them as they value their friendship. This act of always demanding for batting and bowling too is selfish and often times results in team’s loss.

Many a times employees act too sweet infront of their bosses, not because they have respect or they are inspired by their boss but because they want to get promoted to a better post in the corporate ladder and be better than other employees in the eyes of their boss. In doing so they often tend to forget even the basic corporate or business ethics. This act is selfish as here, not only do you think of your own good but at the same time you’re stopping someone else’s growth who might be better at work than you.

Similarly many a times we are hurt by various acts of multiple people, especially acts of people who are very close to us, our parents, close friends and the ones we love unconditionally. This damage at times maybe so high that we are no longer able to hold it. We break down, we cry, our dreams are shattered and there is no goal left. So what do we do? As we were hurt once, we feel as if we have a right to hurt anyone and everyone that comes in our lives. I know it may be difficult but don’t do this mistake, this may hurt one more pure soul like yours was a while ago.

Here I won’t give a solution as I don’t have one. You my friends, my lovely readers, what will you do in such situations to get back to normal without hurting anyone? Do share it with me, so together we can smile and create a happy world.

Burden of a favour

When times are tough, there’s no source of finance.
It feels as if there ain’t even slither of a chance.
We feel so helpless, in dire need of guidance.
Getting back up feels difficult without someone’s assistance.

So do we keep asking for help on the go?
We work on it our-self, to ‘help’ we say no.
As movement of problems is like ‘to and fro‘.
You’ll learn to handle them, after-all you’re a pro.

Beware of the consequences when you ask for a favour.
As no matter how persistent is your endeavour,
If you’re unable to return that favour,
you may as well see their changed behaviour.
So as long as possible avoid asking for any kind of favour,
As the bad times may pass by but the burden stays forever.

Exams are too far away, the studies can wait.
A piece of paper can’t decide my fate.
For the meeting I’m sure, I won’t be late.
Rather than a small discussion I’ll prefer to meet my mate.

Why to spend money for a watchman on the gate.
Thieves can still steal, using someone as a bait.
I’ll eat junk food, no matter how high is the rate.
There’ll always be enough money to have food on my plate.

You often rush in PUBG, that’s a common trait.
I’ll wipe that squad out and loot their crates.
So what if corona is spreading, my company can operate.
Corona can’t catch me, to feed my stomach I have to migrate.

Be careful my friends, respect the current climate.
These rules are for your own good, please don’t violate.
Before you take any decision, always verify and validate.
And never be over confident, or in the end you’ll suffocate.

Small is Big

In your mind, you may have a lot of ideas.
Some may be small, others may be gigantic.
Ideas maybe be diversified in a lot of areas.
Some may simplify your life, others may make it hectic.

Ideas are abundant, to them there’s no limit.
Actions should support you words, if you really mean it.
It really needs guts to have big goals, to dream.
You may have to endure a lot of pain, no wail, no scream.

To achieve that objective we give out our heart and soul.
As if nothing shall remain, if we’re unable achieve that goal.
We start to ignore all tiny aspects, just to get what we want.
Apart from some cheers, everything else sounds a taunt.

But in this process of dreaming big, we often tend to forget.
To focus on those small things and later we have regrets.
Before we sow seeds for those tall trees to grow, land we must dig.
Pay attention on every small task, you’ll surely achieve something big.

Revenge – Is it required ?

There may be times when you feel so stuck.
You try your best, but you have no luck.
You do good deeds but get nothing in return.
You may lose your calm, your heart may start to burn.
You get angry on the person who caused you this pain.
Your heart filled with feelings of revenge, a vicious chain.
The nights are no more calm, so dark are the days.
Only thoughts in your mind, “I’ll make him pay.”
You want to hurt them, you want them to suffer the same loss.
You want sheer dominance, to show them who’s the real boss.
Let’s assume you’re able to do so, your evil plans succeed.
But what changes will these actions bring? How will your life proceed?

After taking revenge will things be the same as they were before ?
You’ll lose all your positive vibes and won’t be the same person anymore.
So if someone does you wrong, ignore them and move out of their way.
As people in your life will come and go, not everyone you meet is meant to stay.
